I just looked up the R.E.M Wiki page and I cannot recall any of the singles off "monster", in fact, I cannot recall the album at all???
I guess that "everybody hurts" track off the previous album was always going to be a hard act to follow....

#2 US, #1 UK, #2 AUS, #4 CAN
8th album
looks like their best selling
think I preferred Out Of Time over this one
except for the fantastic below track

One of those rare albums where I like every single track. The one most miss is the fantastic 'Find the River'
'The purpose of life is a life of purpose' - Athena Orchard.

THE KILLERS "hot fuss" cd, 2004

career stats>
studio albums...........................4
singles....................................27

this album..........................#7 US....#1 AU.....#1 UK...#4 CAN
singles:
"mr.Brightside".................#10 US...#29 AU...#10 UK
"somebody told me"..........#51 US...#17 AU....#3 UK
"all these things ive done"..#74 US...#42 AU...#18 UK...#52 CAN
"smile like you mean it"...................#47 AU...#11 UK

Killer's debut album which I picked up with my b'day giftcards....
now I have all four of their studio albums....
its probably my least favourite album of theirs but to offset that, it contains my two favourite tracks...
not sure why I didn't get this one years ago, because I loved those two tracks when they were originally released as singles...
Wiki tells me that the US version of the album has a track called "change your mind" listed at #8, but the Aussie version replaced that
track with "glamorous indi rock and roll".....why do the do that?, whats the purpose? and why not just put both tracks on both versions???
I think this album is their most straight foreward rock album...less bells and whistles than the others. but hey.....

I LIKE THIS ALBUM

this is my last R.E.M. cd
it was a fun trip
dropped out after this one
not that it's bad, it's just not that good
so there are 5 more studio albums
only heard 1 of those, 2011's Collapse Into Now
listened online when it came out
it was terrible as I recall

fav off this one

MORRISSEY "greatest hits" cd, 2008

solo career stats:
studio albums.............................10
singles.......................................49

this album..............................#5 UK...#178 US
singles:
"that's how people grow up".....#14 UK
"all you need is me"................#24 UK

what do you say about Morrissey???
boring, obnoxious, dour, aloof....they all come to mind as does 'original emo' for his negative outlook on things, especially where love is concerned...
ive always found Morrissey, whether with The Smiths or as a solo artist to make horrible albums but very good singles....I have four or five Smith albums
on vinyl and his first couple from memory, plus a solo on cd...
his lyrics are often very dour and sombre to say the least and I have to be in the mood to hear him, but thankfully, on this occasion I was so I appreciated
this album....
all up a very good collection of singles from a guy who since around 1983ish has rarely been out of the UK top20 singles charts....

these are the bands last 3 consecutive albums from '87, '89 and '90
I have the 2 previous to these on vinyl
they started out leaning punk but quickly migrated to a more alternative sound
never made it big as the highest charting of these was Don't Tell A Soul at #57
my fav track also comes from that album

JAKE BUGG "Shangri-la" cd, 2013

career stats:
studio albums..............2
singles.......................13

this album......................#3 UK...#38 AU...#46 US...#9 IRE
singles:
"what doesn't kill you"..................#44 UK
"slumville sunrise".......................#81 UK
"a song about love"......................no char action
"messed up kids".........................#71 UK
"theres a beast and we all feed it"..no chart action

Jake's second release.....
I loved his self-titled debut set...very sun records type rockabilly...
this one is a bit more rock orientated...
I hear Arctic Monkeys on here as well as Hank III, im not a fan of the Monkey guys but I love Hank III.
album was produced by Rick Rubin, and the production work is pretty good, not too overblown like some of his work...
all up, a very good album by a young up-and-comer in the industry, pretty sure Jake is still only around nineteen or twenty.
not quite as good as the debut but it holds its own for me.

OCEAN COLOUR SCENE "north atlantic drift" cd 2003

career stats:
studio albums...............10
singles.........................30

this album...................#14 UK
singles:
"i just need myself".......#13 UK
"make the deal"............#35 UK
"golden gate bridge"......#40 UK

OCS's sixth studio album....
follows the same brit-pop.1960s retro sounds of their others(not that I own all of them, just two or three others plus a live album)
heading off into the political arena on occasions here with the odd rant about Bush/Blair and the 9/11 attacks on US soil....
a pretty good album overall, but its bookended by two dismal tracks...at least whats inbetween is pretty good...
its an album for fans, not the casual listener...
if you want to see what this group are all about I suggest you try the 'classic',and yes I mean 'classic', "mosely shoals" album

first time listen for me
bought it in my end of year splurge after listening online
thought it showed some promise at the time
still does but it needs some plays
most tracks start out real soft acoustic and by the end
there is this huge orchestra blowing you away
you're left saying how did I get here
good lyrics, good album

love this one
