welcome to MD.....
you mentioned the word 'doo-wop'....i bet Jazzbo's radar has turned in your direction mate.

im a huge fan of 1960s soul/r+b(not the crap they call r+b nowadays though)....Wilson Pickett,Otis, anything from the Stax/Atlantic and Motown labels up till the mid 1970s i guess....
after that Motown became not-motown to me,too many other influences and sounds infiltrating the 'original' ideas for my taste.

He has me cold. I'm a big fan of everything MOBO (Music of Black Origin). I hear you that DC isn't viable anymore--damned shame: I was stationed nearby in the late-'60's and though I lived in Arlington, I was in Dupont Circle and other parts a lot--that's where the life and the music was. I seem to be flying the flag solo--I/we could sure use your contributions. Not to brag too much but check what I've posted via "Profile", and bring forward and comment/add/amend anything that intrigues. And natch, bring us "Local Heroes", under-recognized composers/players, etc., etc. . "Each one, teach one" is the order of the day.
A man accustomed to hear only the echo of his own sentiments, soon bars all the common avenues of delight, and has no part in the general gratification of mankind--Dr. Johnson

Thanks for joining oldies65, good to have yet another passionate member onboard! I love a lot of the great soul and blues music of the 60s too.
