grandfather made his mark in the restaurant business
never became wealthy but very well off
father built homes in NYC
Donald took over and expanded the empire
egos should be restricted
the man is a nutcase

Margaret Wilson - The Able McLaughlins - 1923
Setting is the Iowa prairie shortly after the Civil War. Young man is home from the war determined to marry his grade school sweetheart. Mission accomplished but only after she is raped and impregnated by a cousin. Hell, I didn't even know they had rape back then. The kid is secretly raised as his own after the cousin is run out of prairie. He returns later with the husband determined to kill him. He doesn't have to. The culprit contracts malaria and dies on his own. Everybody else lives happily ever after. The End

I just bought a book duo today, the Six of Crows series by Leigh Bardugo.
Now I have something new to read and I've been looking for this one. It's an adventure/heist story. Not exactly educational like some here are reading, haha.

Mythology is an interesting subject in general and Greece/Roman mythology is something I very much appreciate...
But, I'm lazy - or efficient, depending on perspective - not reading it, listening to it..:

Christopher Andersen - George And Laura - 2002
ââ¬â¹
A mini bio of them both. George was a hell raiser back in his college days. Surprised he didn't get in more trouble with the law than he did. One drunk driving arrest on his record. Laura's is squeaky clean. But she did kill someone in a traffic accident. No drinking was involved. No policy stuff in the book. Just about their marriage. George turned his life around when he gave up the liquor. Laura put the hammer down. The birth of the twins woke him up also. Only covers through 9/11 and so far they have lived happily ever after.

Appears this guy took an interest in native American culture as most of his writings are in that area.
Not a very good book for me.
Made into a movie in 1934.
A lot of Indian tradition stuff going on.
Basically a love story with a tragic ending.
