Booth Tarkington - The Magnificent Ambersons - 1918
Midwestern setting, early 1900's. Spoiled rich kid grows up to be a spoiled poor man. Masterfully written, story line is growing up to realize not everything comes without some effort, in wealth or love.

Robert Mann - A Grand Delusion - 2001
A history of the Vietnam war from a Washington perspective. For policy wonks only. Five presidents led us through this biggest intervention mistake in US history. From Truman through Nixon. Hardly any in the field views here. Most all of it comes from the presidents and the congress, safe in their homes and the capitol. What was done and why. With 700+ pages it got to be rather tedious. But it was informative. Learned some shit and that's what reading is all about.

I just got the complete works of H.G. Wells on kindle. For FREE!!
I guess I will read some of the things I was supposed to read back in school, but instead listened to Alice Cooper, Zep, Skynyrd, Cheap Trick, Ted Nugent, KISS, Aerosmith, Foreigner, Boston, Van Halen, Queen etc, etc.
I listened to all these groups while chasing girls, so it wasn't like I wasn't getting anything accomplished.
