THE ENGLISH BEAT "best of the english beat"
very rarely do i do a 'new release' that is a 'best of' set,but what the heck!
known as The Beat in the home country of the UK, The Beat were a part of the whole
late 1970s 'ska' movement which consisted of Madness and The Specials to name a couple.
these guys, like the other two, had a string of highly infectious dance orientated raggae/ska
songs that made the UK top 20 almost continually.
these guys though, made the UK singles charts on no less than fifteen occasions between
1979 and 1983 before they disbanded. out of the ashes of that collapse came of of the biggest yet short lived
acts of the late 1980s in Fine Young Cannibals, who continued the along the same infectious beats mixed with
political and social commentary in their songs.
so i guess, if you want to see where the FYC had their origins, then this is a good album to get.
me, i dont need it, already have their studio albums and/or singles and a best of set already.
rating:2.3
