Hi, my name is Andy and I am conducting a dissertation on the new UK invasion of British music acts upon the American music market and would like to know how the subject is perceived in America. Artists such as Adele, One Direction, Jessie J and The Wanted are all making a name for themselves in the US and I would just like to hear from American fans of popular music, who would be willing to discuss how these acts are relating overseas. If you would prefer to email me, my address is
andy_colman@hotmail.com.
Any contributions would be much appreciated

For me it was the Neu Soul/R&B that came out of England with Joss Stone, Amy Winehouse, Imelda May and Hannah Williams. It made me pursue both neu soul artists here in America but also had me researching and buying a lot of the original R&B artists. For me this was a lot like the British Blues/Rock of the 60s and early 70s which caused me to research and buy the original Blues artists. I appreciate the new and it makes me research and buy the originals

Today's "British Invasion" of America(include Canada) is nothing at all like the British onslaught of the sixties! Beatles, Stones, Kinks, DC 5, Zombies, Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull, Procol Harum. Elton John, T Rex, Small Faces, Yardbirds, Joe Cocker, Dusty Springfield, Hermans Hermits, Petula Clark, Lulu, Mary Hopkins, Englebert Humperdinck, Tom Jones, Cream, Donovan, Gerry and the Pacemakers, Searchers, David Bowie, Arthur Brown,The Who,Chad and Jeremy, Ten Years After,Peter and Gordon and lots more!
By the way also, welcome aboard MD, Andy!
