Getting back together

I hate when some people say they wish so-and-so would get back together. It gives me horrible nightmares of PBS specials where over-the-hill rock stars use bloated back-up orchestras to cover their mistakes, and middle-aged audience members try to sing along.

Is there anybody else who thinks we should allow the circle of rock-and-roll life to flow naturally, rather than luring the old bastards out of their deck chairs with giant bags of money, just because some of us were either too young to see them in their prime, or insist on seeing them "one last time" in a desperate attempt to recapture their youth?

i agree for the most part. getting a band together to hear their old songs is rediculous... although i don't mind it when bands restart, make new music, and actually do it with some class. kinda like guns'n'roses. but sadly, the cycle should end if it is going nowhere.

I broadly agree that comebacks should be a no-no, but really, if a band has something to sell (Music, memories etc.), and there's an audience for it, then good luck to them...

BTW, I really don't believe that advancing years are any barrier at all to making good music.

If it is motivated by greed than I don't care for it. But as Tiggi says, if people are willing to pay, then there they go.

But if they record new material and continue on in a new direction or from where they left off - that can be good. From what I read the new Dinosaur Jr album is an example of this. I haven't listened to it yet.
