What do you guys think of Katy Perry's new video. I like the song, but the video kind of distracts me from that. Nothing against the military or the marines, but whenever an artist does a video like this I think that takes over and the song just fades into the background.

i totally agree with you Hatchetman...not a bad song IMO either but as with most videos now adays they either have nothing to do with the song or you are concentrating too much on the visual side of it to hear the audio...
im not a fan of the "video age" for the most part...i prefer music videos that show the artist performing the song, like the old clips from the 60s and 70s, a good song should not need a fancy video to sell it, thats why i generally listen to new music online...audio first!

I think audio and video can work together to compliment each other. And it doesn't have to just be a performance video. Lady Gaga I think is a great example. Her songs and videos just go together and create a totally new experience. But when artists go overboard on a theme that has nothing at all to do with the song (like Katy did), then there's a problem.

agreed, Michael Jackson also made great videos that worked well with the songs

I'm totally with you on this, Crazy ! A great example, recommended by you I might add, is the sheer raw power and emotion generated by Aussie hard rockers - Airbourne at the Wacken Festival !!!!!...you can't top that in music video !!!!

The ultimate connection is between a performer and its' audience!
