a dream come true...

so as you all know from "what are you listening to" albums i have posted in the past (and today) Lynne and myself are huge Leo Sayer fans and between us we own ALL 17 of his studio albums, tour programs and posters (i have seen him at least half a dozen times and Lynne a couple of times over the decades)

anyway, about eight weeks ago he announced an Aussie tour for September of this year so i jumped at the chance to once again buy tickets to see this fabulous entertainer once again for myself and Lynne to see him together for the first time.
i managed to get tickets in the eighth row almost dead centre of the stage in this little 2500 seat theatre here in Perth.
we were both over the moon at the location and proximity to the stage we managed to get.

so a few days ago, friday morning to be exact, i sent an email to Leo's management saying words to the effect of:
"i know you hear this all the time with people saying theyre huge fans of Leo Sayer but we are. we own all of his albums and was wondering if there was a chance that whist he is in Perth if we could possibly arrange a 'meet and greet' get a couple of our vinyl LP's signed and maybe a photo with Leo?"
in the email i included a photo of us holding his entire albums collection to prove we own all of his albums.

i told Lynne what i had done and she said, "like youre even going to get a reply....not!"
and i said, "well if i dont we havent lost anything"

so,
to finish the story....
by friday evening i received an email from Leo's Tour Manager and it basically said:
your original email was forwarded on by Leo's Management company and i would be more than delighted to set up a meeting with Leo for you and your partner. let the door people know when you arrive at the venue and they will get word to me and i will be more than happy to meet you and arrange an after show meet with Leo, regards...."

i just thought it was really great that in the space of a few hours that my email had been forwarded on to the right person and that they actually responded positively and promptly

so lets hopeit pans out and Leo Sayer is a decent human being

Well done CH. Nothing ventured, nothing gained! And it’s a case of quid pro quo – artists should acknowledge the value in steadfast fans like yourselves. How would they have kept going otherwise? Not thanks to a streaming platform! I hope the whole event lives up to your expectations!
