NEW! Griffiths's Scales Tutorial

Hello, I would like to introduce a new Scales and this simple tutorial! Griffiths's Scales!

Lets start of with the standard C Minor scale going up the keyboard:


Now something new! Reverse C Minor going down the keyboard!


Now, when playing going up the keyboard you play in Minor.


And when playing going down the keyboard you play in Reverse Minor.


Here's a simple tune going up and down the keyboard:


That's it, a nice simple idea with a great sound.
I call this technique Minor-Minor, there's also Major-Major etc.

There's no 'new' scale here - you are playing the notes of the C minor scale when ascending and you are playing the notes of the F Major scale when descending. (F, G, A, Bflat, C, D, E & F) There is no such thing as 'reverse minor'. What you are doing is modulating between two keys all the time.

It's also bad practice to constantly modulate between two different keys all the time. Unless you are creating a soundtrack for a horror movie or something along those lines. Modulation is mainly used to take the listener on a different route from the one he has been on or to emphasize a chorus in a popular song, such as trying to make the third or fourth chorus stand out more or sometimes just to alleviate boredom.

That Soundcloud clip doesn't sound too bad. A bit boring after a while, but it could work as ambient music for some sort of soundtrack.
