As universally anticipated, Miranda Lambert's Revolution debuts at No. 1 this week on Billboard's country album chart. (And at No. 8 on the magazine's all-genres list.) Meanwhile, Toby Keith's "American Ride" enjoys its second week as America's top country song.
There are plenty new albums and songs to savor. Finally. The other first-time CDs are Robert Earl Keen's The Rose Hotel (No. 17), Patty Loveless' Mountain Soul II (No. 19), Big & Rich's Greatest Hits (No. 27) and Kris Kristofferson's Closer to the Bone (No. 29). James Otto's Sunset Man re-enters the rankings at No. 72.
Songs making their initial breakthrough include Matt Kennon's "The Call" (No. 55), Mica Roberts' "Days You Live For" (No. 60) and three -- count 'em, three -- tunes from Toby Keith: "Every Dog Has Its Day" (No. 56), "Cryin' for Me (Wayman's Song)" (No. 58) and "If I Had One" (No. 59). All three are from his just-released American Ride album. Returning to the songs chart at No. 45 is George Strait's "Twang."
Rounding out the Top 5 albums, in descending order, are Taylor Swift's Fearless, the Zac Brown Band's The Foundation, the soundtrack to Hannah Montana: The Movie and Jason Aldean's Wide Open.
