JIM STUBBLEFIELDâS BACKING BAND HAS PLAYED WITH PRINCE, THE DOOBIES AND CHRISTINE AGUILERA
There is a new album out by guitarist Jim Stubblefield (also known for playing in the band Incendio). Stubblefield has written a great bunch of catchy melodies and plays Latin-style acoustic guitar throughout the recording plus he adds some exciting electric licks. But one of the main features of this album is the special guests Jim brings in. On violin is Novi Novog who has played with countless top acts such as David Arkenstone, Prince, Michael Jackson, Frank Zappa (remember the violin on The Doobie Brothers BLACK WATER hit?). Also featured are bassist Randy Tico (Strunz & Farah, Flora Purim & Airto) and percussionist Ramon Yslas (Luis Villegas, Strunz & Farah, David Sanborn, Christine Aguilera). Moksha Sommer (member of the neo-folk and world-rock group HuDost) adds wordless vocals on a few pieces. The result is astonishing and extraordinary. This is as good as world-fusion gets. The Latin sound that Stubblefield is known for is all over the recording, but he doesnât end there. He adds a little of his influences from progressive-rock to classical, plus some Celtic and Middle-Eastern guitar licks. Very cool stuff start to finish. Give it a listen and be prepared to be hooked on his fresh, exciting sound.
