Hi All,
I am a sixty one year old semi-retired Web designer who has had a life long love of 12 bar music. I tend to listen to electric but appreciating the influence of the early Bluesmen.
I have been lucky enough to have seen live in the 60's and 70's Hendrix (in The Cellar Club South Shields with about 60 in the audience) Cream (Same deal), Grateful Dead, Allman Bros, The Who, the Stones and many more. Great days and Love and Peace (most of the time).
At 60 I decided to learn the Guitar, found a great teacher, learnt the pentatonic scales and can now enjoy playing along to my old vinyl. Just one thing missing. I am playing a cheap Woody (made in China) semi. I have fitted Swinehead pickups which have improved it, but I need to find the money to invest in something worthwhile. Any advice from members (about the guitar not about the money) would be more than welcome.
As long as it's got 12 bars it's all right by me.

Hi and welcome to MD fellow web designer
Buying a decent guitar... Have you looked on Ebay? My father is a Double Bass instrument dealer. He buys a lot of quality instruments, sometimes from auction, advertising that he is looking for stock and generally through contacts he has made over the years.
I might also suggest checking out various dealers for second hand quality instruments. Generally just keeping your eyes open looking for that perfect buy.
Hope that may help a little.
With Regards...

Hi Alan, & welcome to Music Discussion.
I can't help with guitar advice at all, but it looks like the chief has chipped in well.
Hope you enjoy the site...

Hi all,
My guitar question was not about where to get but more what to get. I suppose I could probably get £500 including my trade in together (subject to permission from her who knows best). I have looked at the non-USA Gretsch which I quite like but the body is quite big. I'm looking for something that will give a good bluesy sound with good sustain and preferably with a narrow neck. Any recommendations including dearer guitars that might be available second hand at my price. I've tried working my way around the guitar shop but after 4 or 5 guitars I am so confused I am not even sure what I'm looking for anymore.
Help!!!!!

My apologies, I misread the question. Guitar knowledge is not my specialty. It may be worth posting a separate question in the Musicians/guitar forum for other members to find. There are members in the forum will excellent guitar abilities and knowledge (from previous discussions).
