Hello Forum. I'm sure i'm not the only person to think this now, but i'd like to hear opinions on it anyway. Do u not think that those going on X-Factor and the like are doing themselves a disservice?
I believe they r for almost simply because their x-factor is immediately sucked the moment they go on a show like that, there is no mystery! Every one will know their background, their future plans etc... Discuss.

I think modern talent shows are irrelevant to music. They're peddling vacuous nonsense to the unthinking masses, with cash as the only motive.
There's evidently an audience for this, but as far as I'm concerned it's just a commercial cash-making exercise which passes me by. Doesn't bother me as it seems to with others...

well im on the other side, i think it is still relevant to music, they find great talents and it isn't about getting/ making cash or money out of it.

There obviously is a degree of talent to some of them, it's just that none of them have talent that I can respect.
Regarding the desire to make money from these shows, I think the only reason they are there is to make shedloads of cash. Nothing wrong with that in itself, but my view is that it's almost the only reason they exist. No artistic integrity.
But then again, I'm not the target audience for this sort of stuff, so maybe I'm not best placed to judge ?!

Its all about money. Yes, they are talented. But it always comes down to money. It is the music BUSINESS afterall.

on this topic...i feel it is soo dumb for people to go on reality tv shows to get their name out there to further their career. im sure it has helped a few people, for the most part noone will buy into what they really want to do because they will be alwasy known as that person who on the reality tv show and will not be taken that seriously.....thats why i think people on reality tv with alternative motives are just stupid

I don't like talent shows. It is a show displaying the transformation from Joe average to a star. I often feel the final result of this engineered Musician is what the talent show bosses want, and not always the natural singer they started as.
