It's great to find an online community of music lovers, and to see the variety of music here. I tend to lean towards the alternative side of things, but have been known to listen to others here and there.
But I'm curious if there are other DM fans here...they are my favorite band, have been for nearly 25 years now.
I'm loving the new album Sounds of the Universe - it's been playing pretty much non stop lately...:biggrin1: LOVE IT!
My all time fave DM album is Violator, followed by Ultra, but this new one could easily be in the top 5 for me eventually.
Any other fans? Favorite albums? Songs?

Wouldn't class myself as a huge DM fan, but I do seem to have quite a few of their albums.
I'd agree with Violator & Ultra, and have a fondness for the 3-disc Remixes collection.

I went through a period of major Depeche Mode love - and I still like and respect their music.
Violator and Songs of Faith and Devotion are my favourites of their albums I think. The Some Great Reward period is pretty good too.

If you haven't yet, you should check out the new album, or at least some of the songs. There is quite the mix of all their old sounds, mixed with some new ones. It's quite good.

two weeks ago i was not familiar with this band so excuse my critisisms on the one cd i now own. my girlfriend absolutly loves the cd but i think it's just alright. the album is sounds of the universe. i still haven't thoroughly listened through it. just my first glance outside view.
depech mode seems like, to me, an eighties band trying to keep up with the times but that is loosing the race- especially with their singer. sorry guys. maybe if the actual melody of the words had a little more going in them, they just seem a litttle drab to me. but i haven't really analyzed the band with great scrutiny, infact i'm trying to as i right this right now. the band also has a kinda downer feel to it. kinda. no matter how upbeat the background music is the singer can't quite catch this beat and is stuck in slow world. i'm not sure if i like this.. i mean i like varying parts in the music but i think the melodicity of the vocals much match the overall beat of the song. but thats just me. all the songs kinda make me feel drab like something horrible has just happened and i'm recovering from it.
sorry, my opinion of the band is negative to medioker at best. :frown:

I like them better for their singles rather than albums. I don't find any of their albums consistent enough to stand out as favorites. I do love songs like:
Blasphemous Rumours
Dreaming of Me
But Not Tonight
Personal Jesus
Everything Counts
