P.S. "Wild West Show" is still my most favorite song from them.

So why not ignore it, do a little research and due-diligence and bring something forward that has merit? Looking to save us from ourselves? There has to be something albeit obscure released recently that you can bring forward to a new audience. I do not get this pandering and slamming of the stuff that's thrust on us, B&R in particular., but Lady Antebellum and countless others. Slaves to the charts and popular consciousness are we? It's getting stale quickly, and with 70-80% of "What's new" listings, off-putting. Bring us what you like, not what you (and we) despise, how about?

were I not a moderator on this site I might agree
as a moderator I feel a responsibility to bring new music to the site
I don't like most new music
as I go through the motions of making the post including listening to the full track
I feel I'm entitled to at least say what I think about it
give me some credit for listening to this garbage
you can never say that I am stuck in the past
maybe with what I like but not with what I listen to
I've always preferred to listen to something I've never heard over something I already know

First off, it's not unknown or unethical for a Board moderator to create an alter-ego to talk about stuff that a moderator can't or won't talk about. Second, nowhere did I suggest bypassing new music; I only ask that you focus more on new music you find worthy. It's dead easy to decry crap--the trick is finding new artists or new doin's by established artists of merit *. Reading other commenters on other sites can relieve you of the burden of having to listen to more than 8 bars of the meretricious drivel we agree is overwhelming pop/rock/country music. I am not saying never be negative--perhaps you have a different POV on a piece others find good or vice versa. Then of course you have an obligation to discuss (not an obligation to anyone but yourself). But to be just another rock-thrower defeats the purpose and in a sense demeans you. This Board is leagues better than anything similar...I looked hard, and that's why I'm here and bringing this impassioned plea. I won't STFU but I will tone it down considerably.
* I was most pleasantly surprised recently by an artist I'd previously dismissed as being merely pandering, and said so loudly here--Lady GaGa.

BTW, I like Big & Rich but I don't care much for this song either.

as a moderator I feel a responsibility to bring new music to the site << no argument there--the argument is: Does it have to be be somebody else's sleazy-easy well-bought corporate/Billboard choices or can we go with well-thought-out 3rd-party choices that more dwell on musical values rather than well-crafted, corporate/algorithm-driven dreck? Just a question...

Then you need to run like the very devll from the Billboard Hot 100 and almost every other rating site, What's the point of excoriating dreck? Who will you convince? Everybody that keeps up has already heard it and has made up their own mind--and to everybody else, it's the Big Yawn. What you got that we haven't heard?
