"Collector" Personality
#11
I think I'm the opposite of a collector personality - the idea of having lots of stuff just feels stiffling to me - I'm always trying to pare down. The 'don't keep it if it isn't beautiful or useful' mantra is a big thing to me.

I like music on my ipod because it's insubstantial, gets rid of as much as the material as possible and just leaves the music.

(Ok - so reading this back I'm obviously a freak)

Not at all - less is more! Ever noticed how 'calm' Japanese homes are?. That's because they aren't piled up full of crap. You can't take it with you as the saying goes. Just like good music, the spaces between the notes are as important as the the notes themselves.

Collector? Accumulator? Eternal question. Both are obsessive/compulsive but I think collectors are, functionally speaking, addicts whereas accumulators are just habituated. 3-5 cats in a largish house is accumulating; 20 cats in an SRO (Single Room Occupancy hotel room) is collecting (they're all Maine Coon cats, right?)

I used to be into baseball. I probably have thousands of baseball cards. I also collect movies and as far as music, I would not be here if I did not collect the enjoyment of listening to music. I've always been around or had animals from fish to horses, to cats, and dogs Confusedmile:
