BARRY MANILOW "1" vinyl 1973
from Lynne's vinyl collection
his debut
so it bombed, had more success with his second album the year after then this was reissued
i can see why it didnt sell, its pretty bad,
full of those cabaret almost novelty type styles
it aint a patch on where he would be and what he would do from '75 onwards
really disappointed but not surprised in some respects
album scores 1.4 from me which means
I DO NOT LIKE THIS ALBUM
best of a bad bunch
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..." - Me 2014.

NEIL & LIAM FINN "lightsleeper" cd 2018
Neil's fifth solo album, twentieth career studio album
very mellow, with little going on
yes, there are gorgeous harmonies but not much else
its not unpleasant, its just nothingness
album would be my least favourite of his career as a guess
albums scores 1.7 though which overall means
I LIKE THIS ALBUM
one of the more interesting tracks:

ELVIS PRESLEY "walk a mile in my shoes: the essential 1970s masters" cd 1995
i always start off each year with Elvis Presley, because well, he is The King and my first musical love.
a five cd box set encompassing all his A and B-sides of singles on 2 cds
2 cds of his best album tracks, a disc of live recordings and another of live recordings.
comes in at around 130 tracks
i played disc two which was all of his singles from 1972-1977
cd would score 2.7 for me which means
I LOVE THIS ALBUM

CHRIS REA "espresso logic" cd 1993
a revisit
from the UK
his thirteenth of twenty-five, i own about half of them
all the sounds you would expect from a Rea album are here,
its laidback easy listening soft rock/adult orientated rock
im yet to hear a bad album by him, theyre always classy recordings and this is not different
no recognisable hits from this one but that doesnt detract from what is contained within
album scores a healthy 2.3 from me which means
I LIKE THIS ALBUM

CHRIS REA "on the beach" cd 1986
a revisit
random pick of one of his albums
his eighth of twenty-five, nothing has changed since yesterday as i still own the same amount LOL
i think everyone would know the title track
some jazzy type moments here and there on tracks but not enough to call tracks totally jazzy though
excellent album and favourite track wasnt even issued as a single
as i was listening to this one i was thinking it would have been cool to hear a collaboration between him and Mr Knopfler
album scores 2.3 from me which means
I LIKE THIS ALBUM
fave on this occasion:

PAUL WELLER "66" cd/vinyl 2024
a revisit
from the UK
seventeenth solo album of eighteen, i own seventeen
twenty-eighth career album overall of twenty-nine
lots of orchestrations, alt-rock and a gospel tinged tune
overall id call it "soft rock or AOR (adult orientated rock)
love two of the tracks, like four others but still dislike half of it
that said i am slowly warming to it
at least on this occasion it does score 1.7 which finally means
I LIKE THIS ALBUM
