From his new album titled Conspiracy - just love this cover artwork - Manfred Eicher selects/approves it for ALL the artists - that's quite something! Looking forward to the rest of the album. This reminds me somehow of a deconstructed "Sailing" and something else I just can't pin down ... lol! I could be going mad, of course - quite possible.
Terje Rypdal is referred to by ECM as a 'tone poet' ... such a distinctive sound ...

Listened to this Ruby but those constant cymbals is a distraction to me. I found that part of it annoying.

^I do see what you mean - it kinda grew on me. Don’t know what it is about Terje Rypdal - even although I’m not big on the more abstract forms of jazz, his stuff makes sense to me and is a little addictive – Avishai Cohen too – the bassist, not the trumpeter. Most peculiar, especially since from what I understand jazz and mathematics are closely aligned, something that has never been one of my stronger suits, so even more puzzling! Curious to see how this track fits in with the rest of the album.

Apologies - that should have been 'Listened to this Ruby but those constant cymbals ARE a distraction to me. I found that part of it annoying.' Seems like the days of good English has went!
BTW mathematics is at the heart of all music. Musical scales are like fractions. The part I can't figure out is why do I like music so much and mathematics so little. One intrigues me no end and the other bores me to tears. Go figure.
