Hi,

I am college student studying anthropology and music...My midterm project is to chat with someone with a different cultural background about their experiences with music. (FYI, I am German-Canadian.) Here are my questions:

What was your earliest memory of music?

What did your parents/peers listen to?

How did your culture affect music tastes and habits?

What kinds of music do you listen to today?

In what ways do you use music, personally and/or professionally?

Any responses are welcome. Simply, discuss (in bullet points if best) how your life relates to music.

firstly, no need to post the same post twice in different threads, one post would suffice:

What was your earliest memory of music?
aged three or four, listening to my parent's music collection

What did your parents/peers listen to?
50s/60s

How did your culture affect music tastes and habits?
it doesn't, I listen to whatever I like at any given time

What kinds of music do you listen to today?
all music, im open to everything, but I wouldn't purchase everything I hear.

In what ways do you use music, personally and/or professionally?
relaxation/enjoyment and to discover new artists im unfamiliar with

Thanks so much for the reply...One follow up, if you don't mind, have you ever lived in another country? If so, how did your music tastes change...In other words, did your musical preferences follow regardless of location?
