but then theres some Linkin Park type vocals every now and them which I like...
not really my thing but SteveO will love it for sure!

Lol!!! I hate that lame clean singing vocal, tons of bands sound like this! Too poppy I'm afraid, try Steven Wilson, Devin Townshend, Ghost BC, Opeth, Nightwish, In The Moment, Moonspell, just to name a few of a thousand non Top 40 metal bands that write and perform intelligent music IMO! There are a lot of good prog rock metal bands out there also...Anathema for one! The growls and screams compliment the music, extreme music = extreme vocals...check out Cradle of Filth! ! Slipknot did very well on the Top 40...great to see...definitely not poppy !!!! Marilyn Manson does well also for a band that does a lot of covers..they have a distinct sound that is somewhat appealing!
