Hello everybody. I haven't posted on here in quite awhile. Well I am desperately seeking all kinds of new music so I am posting a thread in each genre asking for your recommendations! My mission for you is to give me your favorite Alternative bands. It is such a broad genre that I am not even sure what to tell you I am into. But anyway please show me you're favorite and I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you!

Jim Jones from My Morning Jacket has a debut newish solo album out which is pretty good
favourite Alt bands would include:
My Morning Jacket
Band Of Horses
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Split Enz
Elvis Costello
to name a few

British Sea Power, The National, Of Montreal, Japandroids are great ! I guess you could throw in the Avett Brothers....hard to categorise...I don't really know the difference between alternative and rock anyway and neither does anyone else! The Avett Brothers are incredible !

Paul Smith from Maximo Parks solo album 'Margins' Just beautiful!
And Karina Berry - british singer songwriter -lots of free stuff on soundcloud I do believe. Gorgeous voice!!
