Wow! That's just harsh! and uncalled for! Slipknot is one of those bands that for some reason, you either love them or you hate them. I happen to love them. But then again I have recently fallen into the "hardcore" stuff. But if the first or second time you listen to them you don't like them, you probably never will. However, people should admit that they are talented. The vocals are really good, the drumming is kick ass, and as with all good rock, the guitar is awesome. Whether their sound appeals to you or not is a whole nother story.

I think Slipknot created the genre of New Wave Heavy Metal, a genre whose popularity soared with them and with bands like Killswitch Engage, Dragonforce etc, which also made older metal from the 80s and early 90s popular again with teenagers (in the UK anyway). I've only got V3: The Subliminal Verses, not being a huge fan of the genre, as it's arguably their lightest album. I agree that Corey Taylor's voice really suits the band, and the guitar and drum work is amazing as well.

For those who like the new album but think that it is "light", try their mainstream debut, which was self-titled as "Slipknot". I knew that I would like this band as soon as I heard track 2 - "Sic". I agree that they are not everyone's cup of tea but nothing calms down an angry teenager more than the tracks "Diluted", "liberate" and "Wait and bleed". The latest album is not bad but they are aiming for a wider audience and some songs have strong influences from Stone Sour, the side project of Slipknot's lead singer and one of their guitarist. This is not really a bad thing, except they are missing the "edge" of their previous albums. Finally, if you think that they are just a wall of sound with no substance, look into Corey Taylor's lyrics and you might be surprised (especially some of the slow tracks on Vol3:Subliminal Verses).

I'm not going to be one of these people that says they're a terrible band, i'm not greatly into them, but i used to be. But i think we all have to remember here (this appeals to people from my generation) but this is the band (i know i did) listened to as a was growing up, just coming into my teens, it brought me to liking heavier music and in my opinion "better" music, that's what they do to many kids these days, and they certainly are a huge hit with young teens, but it got me liking metal music, i respect them for that.

Slipknot are absolutely fantastic! Their music is so full of energy and emotion. Corey has amazing songwriting talent, and his lyrics are absolutely amazing.
Seeing them live has to be one of the single most amazing experiences of my life. The atmosphere they create, the energy they unleash, the sheer 'wow' factor of finally seeing them on stage is just unbeatable, I've seen a fair few bands live, but none have beaten that night, at least not yet haha

This is a band I have yet to get into...just the imagery sort of turns me off. The few samples I've heard just sound pretty generic.

Well, in my own opinion, like Slipknot. The first time I heard Corey's voice, I stuck with listening. Their lyrics are intense also, which is something I like. Bottom line, they sound hardcore kick ass and that's good enough for me, considering their songs don't all sound the same.

I try to appreciate All Music...get something good out of it! As for Slipknot, they must be incredible live!...their music varies enough to avoid total boredom and their somewhat grotesque masks add to a visual experience to say the least! A band you wouldn't expect to come from Des Moines, Iowa!!!!..lol
Rammstein is another unbelievable band live with their music and visual effects!...only downfall is that they sing for the most part or totally in German!
The ultimate connection is between a performer and its' audience!
