Punk: No Talent !!
#11
See, punk is one of the eras in popular music history which will never be forgotten. WHY?

Authenticity.

The bands of the American and British Punk Movements in the 70s inspired from the original works of Lou Reed's The Velvet Underground and his art rock, were possibly some of the most authentic figures in popular music. They were themselves - they couldn't play, so they played simple but amplified it with both magnitude and tempo to make their point - brilliant music doesn't always come from brilliant musicians.

They were themselves, and we look at the history of the beginnings of punk to post-punk and the punk influences to New Wave, Pop Punk, Grunge and Alternative Rock. Huge influences on the modern day music scene, yet they created something so simple yet iconic.

Long Live Punk Rock.

No. But at the same time, quality and complexity don't necessarily make any music less authentic. That may not be your point, but it seemed to be the point of the punk movement.

In saying that, they're telling the classical composers and jazz musicians that they're not authentic--not just their intended targets: the so-called arena-rock dinosaurs--which doesn't make sense. Good is good, and authentic is authentic.
