New Dog !!!
#1
Mrs Tiggi & I have just had a home visit from a dog rescue kennel in preparation for collecting a new rescue dog tomorrow.

He's a lovely year-old black labrador-cross, found stray in the West of Scotland (That's about 500 Miles from here !!). The kennel have named him Gordon (Good Highland name), but that'll soon change. We're not sure yet what to call him, but there's no real hurry.

Will post further updates.

The adoption is going well !!

He's been with us for a week & a half, and is settling in very well. Our last dog was also a rescue, and was less then a year old. Unfortunately, he developed an unpredictable aggressive streak, and we had to consult dog behaviourists. When he bit Mrs Tiggi quite badly on the face, we chose to return him to the rescue centre. They assessed him, and decided his aggression levels were too high for rehoming, and opted to put him down. This was all very sad, & I'm still pretty raw about it all.

The new dog - now named Floyd - is such a lovely, gentle dog. So far we've had no problems whatsoever. We're just introducing him to our cat, and it's going unbelievably well (The cat wouldn't go anywhere near the last dog).

So, all in all it's going better than we'd hoped.

If you want slavish devotion (and all the attendant walking), get a dog; If you want an independent critter that you have to induce/ work at getting to respect you (and just tidy up the litter box once a day, thank you very much), get a cat. Like dogs, love cats (Maine Coon cats rock the rhythm intensely).
