I don't listen to pop music a lot, because I just prefer other types. But I do not think you are referring to pop music in general, you are talking about what is on today's radio. There have been a lot of great pop stars to grace the music world. I mean Billy Joel, Bee Gees, Prince, Abba, Michael Jackson, these people were considered giants of pop. Today, we might not call them such because we equate pop with " popular radio hits". There is good pop music out there, we just don't see it on the radio, because catchy gets on the radio, even if it is awful.
