Win some, lose some. Toby Keith's single, "American Ride," retreats from No. 1 to No. 2 this week on the Billboard country chart, but his album of the same title debuts at No. 1 on the adjacent list. Not a bad switch.
Keith's first-week CD sales were a tad over 90,000 copies, as measured by Nielsen SoundScan.
Arriving as America's top country song is Chris Young's "Gettin' You Home (The Black Dress Song)," which has climbed steadily since it made its chart bow 35 weeks ago.
The other new albums are Luke Bryan's Doin' My Thing (which enters at No. 2 via sales of nearly 60,000 units), Rosanne Cash's The List (No. 5), Bill Engvall's Aged and Confused (No. 29), Colt Ford's Country Is as Country Does (No. 41) and Guy Clark's Somedays the Song Writes You (No. 59).
Tim McGraw's Greatest Hits 3 makes a comeback at No. 71.
There are four new songs: Eric Church's "Hell on the Heart" (No. 52), Justin Moore's "Backwoods" (No. 54), Krista Marie's "Tomboy" (No. 57) and Joe Nichols' "Gimmie That Girl" (No. 60).
The Lost Trailers' "All This Love" re-enters at No. 55. "Ride Through the Country," the Colt Ford-John Michael Montgomery pairing, returns at No. 58.
Completing the Top 5 albums array are Taylor Swift's Fearless at No. 3 and Miranda Lambert's Revolution, last week's chart topper, at No. 4. Fearless has sold just under 4 million copies during its 48 weeks out.
The No. 3 through No. 5 songs are Keith Urban's "Only You Can Love Me This Way," the Zac Brown Band's "Toes" and Brad Paisley's "Welcome to the Future," in that order.
