Songpop - again
#1
This game has been discussed before on MD, but those threads were really old.
Anyone here still playing Songpop 2?
If so, I'm up for some duels

Might be an idea to explain what it is, if you want any takers. My experience with "game" style threads on this board has not been all that great.

Good advice, Bob...

For those of you who are not familiar with it, it's a game where you compete head to head against another person.
First, one of the two picks a cathegory and there are lots of them like one for each decade, rock, pop, classical or a specific artist. Then you get to hear an audio clip from a song, one at a time, and as soon as the clip starts playing you'll see four possible answers and you have to tap (if playing on your phone) or click (computer) the one you believe is the correct one and do this as fast as you can - your score will depend on how fast you are
When all five clips are finished, you wait until your opponent has played his/her turn. The one with highest score in that round will be rewarded one point in your aggregated game score. Next turn it's the other person who picks cathegory... and this is repeated for as long as you keep that opponent in your game list

It's quite an addictive game if you love music and competition as well

And one more thing, when you register and starts playing for the first time, you startup with a limited number of categories, but as you continue playing you will earning in-game coins and similar and for those you can buy new categories and even, in the middle of a game, eliminate two of the wrong answers

There are more features in the game, and when Songpop 2 was released a new game typ was introduced, but that's another story

I may have missed some details but this pretty much sums up what the game is.

Did I pass the tutorial exam, Bob - was it understandable?

I see - so there is actually an external site called Songpop? I assumed it was just a game that was played on this MD site.

I suspect that I would perform ridiculously well in a certain small set of categories, and terribly badly in most other categories, That's just because of the way my musical tastes are. For example, if the selected category was "hop-hop" or "R&B" I'd probably resign and concede before even commencing.

It's actually an app you download on your phone or if you want to play on the computer I guess Facebook is your way in to the game
Rap/Hip-Hop is something I also try to avoid but sometimes I get random challenges where the opponent switch between HipHop, J Bieber and maybe some other teen artist and I then have to do the same, only pick 60's, ABBA or maybe Deep Purple- Those games rarely lasts for more than 4 or 5 rounds before the opponent leaves the game - which actually is a relief - I have no intentions on getting into HH or Bieber

But one good thing about the game is what you also find here - new music to like. More than once I have had to look up one of the clips I found interesting and a new fav artist is found

i played Songpop via Facebook for a number of years,
gave up a couple of years ago...
to avoid picking certain catagories I just used to pick whichever one came up at the top of the selection list each time...

I still play Songpop 1 ! People that pay for tokens are virtually unbeatable! They can get rid of 2 songs and only have to pick 1 out of 2 songs for the win. I will never buy tokens! I hold my own without them ....only play 4-6 people...even that takes a half hour or so!

Don't think I've ever used that eliminating feature. But you don't have to buy those tokens, you could earn them in different ways within the game. I have had huge amounts of them at times, but it then I have had periods where I've played a lot.
Those tokens I mainly use for buying new lists
If you, Steve, or anyone else are up for a game, my nick in SP is "zigma"
