Camel are back on the road with a new version of The Snow Goose. Andrew Latimer has recovered from a serious illness and seems to be in fine form. His guitar playing is just as good as it always was and he seems to be really relaxed and enjoying himself. Just hope there is some new material coming out. Their 'Rajaz' album remains one of my favourites. Unique tone out of that guitar of his -

Crazy, they have quite a diverse batch of material - some long instrumental albums but also some more pop orientated albums like 'The Single Factor'. People seem to like 'Stationary Traveller' quite a lot. The band used to be centred around
a keyboard/guitar setup in the early days but have since diversified into all sorts of areas. 'Dust and Dreams' is quite a nice album inspired by John Steinbeck's 'The Grapes of Wrath'. One of my favourites is 'Nude' - a concept album with instrumental passages and songs about a Japanese soldier who was stranded on an island for 29 years believing that the second world war was still in progress. But the highlight of all their material is Andrew Latimer's guitar style.

Probably my favourite track of theirs -
http://youtu.be/2HD3tXh70Lw That guitar sound is unique and sends shivers down the spine - especially the ending. Pure class.

I haven't listen to much Camel! I don't think they were well known in Canada or maybe in North America! I love them though and I look forward to hearing more! I find that a lot of the prog bands (and there are many) are a complete joy to listen to! Unpredictability and unique sounds! Mikael Akerfelt of the great prog band Opeth has cited Camel as one of his influences! That's why I love Opeth! Nice clips J man!
