My mom is starting a TV show and she'd like an adequate intro music. She's a comedian who mainly does dark comedy/political satire and she wants me to dig out something that fits her show. I'd go for classical (though it's not a requirement) and I found a few solutions.
First, the Ride of the Valkyries. Effective, yet way overdone in too many movies. It reminds me of Apocalypse Now and the Blues Brothers, though its mood is spot-on. When we talked about what she's interested in, she said "find something anti-Beethoven's Ninth".
Second, In the Hall of the Mountain King by Grieg (from Peer Gynt). I like playfulness combined with dark overtones. It may be too subdued compared to the Valkyries.
What are some of your ideas?
