totally agree Penny...i think ALL covers should be banned/made illegal unless the artists doing the covering add something new or original to the covers...afterall, any idiot can copy someone elses song, but putting thought and imput into it requires a bit of skill IMO, that said there are some great covers out there, some evenbetter than the originals, but they are too few to mention.
and covers lack the spontaneous nature of the originals.

It's obviously acceptable for unrecorded amateur musicians to do covers IMHO. If the artist does a cover it should mean that the artist loves the music of the artist that they're covering. There are over 6,000 covers of Beatle songs!!!!!!...but as you said Crazy, nothing like the original!
