Pulled the trigger and have an introductory lesson tomorrow! I am psyched to hopefully learn progressions, fingerstyle patterns, and eventually improvisation. Thanks all for the welcomes and encouragement. I originally joined MD for help identifying a song I lost and committed the error of posting a link before 10 posts.:redface2: I looked in the blues section and found it! Bridge of Sighs, Robin Trower. Haunting..

You have too heard of Bernie... The Eagles.... The Flying Burrito Brothers. You just don't know you know, errr... something like that!

Actually, you'll probably start out learning the open E, G, and C chords, then the scales which are contained within them (sort of).
It's a blast! Just keep practicing, it really doesn't take a long time to start sounding pretty good to your friends, then yourself. BTW, what kinda stuff you got? I play Tak acoustic and PRS and Strat electric, but do have a LP which is way too heavy to mess with now. Also have a Crate with 2- 16's, but now usually go with headphones and my Pocket Pod. Trying to be a good neighbor.

Gater, I have a Seagull acoustic, an acoustic that looks like an ovation, an epiphone strat style, a Les Paul Epiphone, and a classical that I found at a garage sale. For an amp I have a Peavey Classic 50. I played a lot in the past but never got really serious. I have had most of my equipment since the middle '90's. Just getting back in the swing of it. My instructor gave me a simple blues ditty to practice and it's coming back to me, along with the finger callouses. :-)

Hi Chris! Guitars and blues are an interesting hobbies. Kind of thinking of learning to play the guitar as well.
