The strangest closing track to an album (Hergest Ridge) I have ever heard, but it has a unique charm to it. I like it even though it is a bit oddball. But then again I AM an oddball so if the cap fits.......

Mike always seemed to have a strange approch to endins...................Tubular Bells original ending is odd ..........I have heard that there was an alternative endiung to Hergest Ridge and Ommadawn well On Horse Back is typical him .........Funny when I listen to Ommadawn I always feel that actually it is an under developed idea and somehow there should have been more ......................
Nice to be able to go back to trust and friendship!!!!!!!!!
It's a mixed up sensation this being alive
Oh! it wears a man down into the ground
It's the strangest elation
I can't describe it
Oh it leaves a man weary
It makes a man frown..............................Chris Simpson ( "Mixed Up Sensations" 1975 Martin's Cafe )

Now that you mention it 'The Songs of Distant Earth' has an unorthodox ending as well. I suppose he wanted the listener to be in no doubt that the album had come to an end or maybe he just didn't know how to finish it. Who knows!

The SA (that's South America not South Africa) trip is actually planned for 2013. But I have been busy working on a new music project 'a la Jerome'. Won't be everybody's cup of tea but then again I don't really write commercially accessible stuff. A bit of synthersizer noodling with some drums and guitar thrown in. No real concept or idea behind this one - just a sequence of interlocking musical journeys. Actually a collection of half-started ideas and bits and pieces that have been lying around for ages. Thought I would have a stab at seeing if I could get them to all flow together into one cohesive whole. Can't think of a title right now (if I were honest about it, it should be called 'Half-Baked Biscuits' or something equally absurd.) It really is very patchy - but then they always are when you start a new project. Time will tell. Anyway, I'll be coming and going over the next few months. But it's good to be back for now.
