My experience with Metal is a little out of date.

However, Black Sabbath are always worth a listen, if you don't mind more vintage material. Paranoid, Sabotage, Technical Ecstacy, & Heaven And Hell are all good albums.

More recent stuff that I know would include Joe Satriani's The Extremist. Melodic, instrumental, and quite laid back.

If Prog-Metal is of interest, how about Dream Theater ?? Their Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence, and Train of Thought albums are ones I can recommend.

Other than those, can't help much further...

Check out a new progressive metal band called Animals As Leaders. They released their self titled debut last year which is very, very good.

if your looking to ge tinto metal its a bit outdated in my opion. if you like it for the heavy maybe you should try hardcore. the definition of metal at this point has changed so much. it used to be that just hard rock was considered metaal but now it chagned so much. goo dmetal bands that are actual metal are like metallica and such. but its out dated. go with metalcore and youll be happy ;]]
