Hi
#1
Hey, folks. I came across this site while searching the webs for a place to discuss music. It looks pretty cool and laid back here (a refreshing change, I must say), so I thought I'd give it a shot.

My top 5 bands are, in order:
Pink Floyd
King Crimson
Tool
Kyuss
Portishead

I've tried making a bigger Top list, but I can never get positions 6-thru-whatever fixed. It's a revolving door, too difficult to solidify.

Some other favs:
Corrosion of Conformity
Isis
Acid Bath (if only they had stuck together, they'd probably have a fixed spot)
Faith No More (really, just about anything Patton has done, especially Bungle and Fantomas)
Mastodon
Neurosis

...and away from the Metal genre:
Leonard Cohen
Tom Waits
Gram Rabbit
LCD Soundsystem
Thievery Corporation
The Cardigans
Mazzy Star
Morphine

I'm open to listening to just about anything. IMO, only a close minded fool rejects an artist/band based on what genre they came from.

So, there you go. Look forward to posting in some threads.

Those were pretty much my favourites when I was 15.

Okay.

Insect Warfare-
Just listened to Manipulator and Enslaved by Machinery. Grindcore has never really appealed to me, and this was no exception. The more downtempo parts of Manipulator showed promise, but the blastbeat parts of the song sounded like any other grindcore I've heard. Thanks, though.

Hi InFiction, & welcome to MD.

I think you're absolutely right about musical genres. Talent's talent.

Hope you enjoy the site.
