A use for my laptop
#1
Hey all,
My name is Penny and I recently got a laptop to run visuals during my performances. I have been trying to justify my purchase, so I've been trying to figure out another use for it  I already check my emails ten million times a day and became bored with that, so I thought I would join a discussion group on music. This one looked good and everyone I know is terribly sick of my blathering on about music.
I'm a songwriter/flutist. I've written music for the National Film Board of Canada and am a member of SOCAN (Canadian Society of Composers). I also perform locally and use that as an excuse to buy equipment. My son tells me I suffer from GAS (Gear acquisition Syndrome) :biggrin1:
Today I am gluing a flute mic onto one of my flute heads and am now waiting for it to dry.
Anyway, that's about all I can think of at the moment.
Be well

Welcome to MD! .........Have you ever come across this

The Canterbury Folk Festival is a in Ingersoll, Ontario, Canada.?

Some of my friends played there last year.Cool
Nice to be able to go back to trust and friendship!!!!!!!!!

It's a mixed up sensation this being alive
Oh! it wears a man down into the ground
It's the strangest elation
I can't describe it
Oh it leaves a man weary
It makes a man frown.

Hi Penny, & welcome to MD.

It's good to have another real musician on board. Lots of us can't play a note...

Hope you enjoy the site.

Thank you for the warm welcome. I know Ingersoll, as I went to Western for music and it's in London, right near Ingersoll. Don't think I've been to the folk festival, but then I go to so many festivals it's hard to keep track. I live in Shelburne, and here we have the Fiddle Festival (not exactly my favourite kind of music) but it's fun that the community gets into the spirit of music. We also have a street festival and I have been asked to play for 1/2 hour or so and I am also one of the judges at the Canada Day "Shelburne Idol" contest. I'm the gentle woman on the panel that says everything is 'lovely'
Tomorrow I am off to Orangeville to audition for busking at the street market, which runs on Saturdays all summer. That could be fun. I'm also playing in their Music Festival and my stage band was asked to play in the Blues Festival, but the members seem less than enthusiastic. I think I'm a tad too intense about music and freek everyone out. Of course they all have 'real' jobs, my job is music, so I'm way more serious I guess.
Anyhoo, thanks for the welcome (s).

Very nice to meet you,

I've been playing the guitar for quite awhile now and I had the chance to play with a few flutists in my life and I greatly appreciate the instrument.

Hope we can chat, regards

You as well Stay Awake,
Guitar and flute are lovely together. My son is a rock guitarist, but on occassion I will twist his arm to play some accoustic while I play the flute. (I don't twist his arm too hard, or he couldn't play guitar.)
