I decided to see the sun set on my most recent decade from the top of Table Mountain so headed off there last evening with a couple of friends of a similar vintage. Having arrived at such a grand number, discounts now come into play – hilarious!

Not the best day for it, unfortunately, as the top of the mountain was shrouded in cloud but there was no choice in the matter, the hour of my birth being a rather inconvenient 01h10 in the morning. Up we went (in the cable car - I should clarify) complete with a bottle of MCC and carefully wrapped crystal glasses. We sat around in the dim visibility getting soaked through and laughing our heads off at being ‘pensioners in the mist’. A fine way indeed to mark the occasion!

Today will be less adventurous – dinner al fresco at an authentic Italian restaurant under the Milkwoods with a bunch of people who have mysteriously managed to put up with me for many moons.
