Not exactly sure where to put Dean Owens. First listening for me. I went in blind and thought jeepers - that sounds a bit like Calexico! Which it does, with good reason - they're on it, as is Grant-Lee Phillips, although he's not nearly as much in evidence. I quite like the confluence of roots here, I must say - Dean Owens is from Leith, Scotland, GLP is Muscogee, Joey Burns Québécoise - then there's New York, Nashville, Latin America somewhere and possibly Budapest, all of which makes for a sort of highly evolved mariachi sound. Owens and Joey Burns might have been separated at birth in terms of their vocals - soul brothers. (Another 'sounds like' there that I can't quite pin down - it will come to me ....) It was a chance meeting in 2019 - serendipity. And I like the second song of Mr Owens' that I listened to, with Gaby Moreno, so posting them both. Might have to go to his back catalogue and investigate. I see he's referred to as a singer songwriter with alt leanings ... new album due out sometime - Sinner's Shrine.

I am more fascinated by the way you write about these characters than their music. You should write a novel or something. Seriously.

LOL quite often im the same,
i read Ruby's review/description and the tracks for the most part are rarely as interesting as the written piece.

^Wow - crap taste in music but writes about it ok. Lol!! I have obviously missed my vocation in blurbs! Or making up names for paint colours. That’s an actual job y’know! Had I realised that sooner, my life might have been completely different. As it is, you’re stuck with me blowing up what sounds good to my ears, and you won't know if I’m speaking rubbish until you listen. Should've been in advertising ... made you look. Lol!!
Seriously - any and all plot suggestions most welcome.

No, No , No....not crap by any means.
but the music you post simply cant live up to the words you use to describe it...
movies rarely live up to the novel and in your case the music doestn live up to the words
