Spotify listen:
went to allmusic to search this weeks new releases and came across this one,
they say its country/alt-country.
sorry but i dont hear country on it at all??
anyway,
Canadian dude,
sixth studio album but ive never heard of him (which is why i picked this one to listen to).
apparently its a concept album about a dude who hears his ex is back in town and its basically him
reminiscing about their relationship (how it started, the good and bad times and the ultimate split)
but i couldnt hear it, or more to the point didnt hear it as a concept album but who am i???
light breezy music on here, soft vocals, almost spoken at times.
hints of jazzy/bluesy styles in places.
opening track started and all i could think of was Gerry Rafferty, must have been the vocal tone.
hearing some Father John Misty in places also, but only hints of him, nothing specific.
all up a pleasant album which could find its way on my end of year purchase list.
Neon Skyline https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ao22GlYHBqU video (the opening track I was thinking Mr Rafferty)
Where are you Judy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrcoAiA5omA audio
