^Have you noticed a trend toward EP's lately MH? 
I have noticed that there are quite a few new 'albums' that are actually quite short (which is probably a relief in some instances!).
Iron & Wine's new one is an EP too.

very rare to see a country one
marketing gimmick I guess
but as you say, it is a relief in some instances
I can say I completed my task of the day by cheating a little
