JOHN MELLENCAMP featuring CARLENE CARTER "sad clowns and hillbillies"

Spotify listen:

they call this one "Americana"..
yeh. i'll go with that...
slightly alternative, slightly country...
lots of dobros, violins, banjos etc...
some electric guitar also and those songs hark back to the mid eighties 'scarecrow' era...
all new songs written by John...
Carlene Carter, never heard of her, but as I guessed, is a member of "the carter family", to be
exact June's daughter, John Cash's step daughter...
she doesn't sing of every track, but instead does just enough to break up the album...
Martina McBride features on my favourite track on here...
not a bad album, and possibly a grower...
from the album:

enters the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart this week at #11

courtesy of Spotify

wonder how Carlene managed to get that featured title
not even on half the tracks
John has developed that Tom Waits raspiness over the years
probably agree with your fav track

also like this one

nice track, but anything with Dave Edmunds is worth it IMO...
sadly, I only own a couple of singles, no albums, I should at least get a compilation.

back to the album at hand...
I didn't get why she was credited on the cover neither, was expecting a full duets albums when I started
listening to it...

on John Mellencamp, as a live performer his reputation is not a good one, he can perform brilliant one night
and shocking the very next night, shame really, because he has made some fine albums during his career...
