^I think I did listen when you posted this CH, but wasnât smitten. I have now listened to the whole album, and itâs pleasant enough, yet nothing about it excites me, sorry to say. In fact, on second thoughts, although he is to be commended for vocals that are clearly and perfectly enunciated and lyrics that are not at all shabby, which makes a marvellous change, the perpetual hush and whisper might become downright annoying, especially since thereâs not a single instrumental to alleviate the melancholy!
To me it sounds formulaic and somewhat clichéd; monotonous (even with IA and his heavy metal instrument, yet again! He pops up in the strangest places!) and is too much of a ââborrowâ from the real progressive greats who have gone before. There is an element of magic that I personally feel is missing. Same old, same old â the thrill is gone. Yes, itâs beautifully put together and the concept is great, but itâs like being trapped in a giant, still wet watercolour painting ⦠awash in a pastel symphony with no bold colour. In fairness, these guys, Bowness, Steven Wilson, etc., are technically beyond reproach but they simply donât do it for me. I dunno ⦠maybe I prefer flawed! Lol! Straying outside the lines. There is just nothing here that sets him apart IMHO, however, having formed my own opinion and then looking at reviews after the fact, it appears I am a lone voice crying in the wilderness.
Cynical and jaded it may be, but I have the same opinion in respect of most music â sadly, there is little to nothing new under the sun.

oh well, I asked for an opinion and I got one...
thanks Ruby, as always, forthright and brutally honest.
