Project Discussion
#1
I don't wanna :blah: too much so...
I'm looking for people, possibly serious jazz listeners/critics, to listen to some of my material.
I've put a lot of hard work and thoughtful ideas into my solo project. I'm having a difficult time finding the right listeners in my local area. its easy listening/jazz, there are 65 tracks on my website. Sounds of bells, marimba, flute, sax, bass, piano, drums, and other instruments, all played from keyboards. I'd love to have a discussion that would bounce me a good direction!
If anyone is interested I'd love to link my website, I'm not sure if its okay, can anyone let me know?

I would like to hear it, but I am by no means a jazz expert.

I just flipped through the tracks very quickly - some need some work here and there, but I was quite impressed by the amount of different genres and styles. I did listen to 'Tesseract' all the way through because the melody caught my ear straight away. You need to expand on that one. Listen to Bob James and Earl Klugh albums. You have loads of talent - make use of it. I will listen to more of the tracks when I have some time.

Hey Jerome thanks for taking time to listen to a few tracks. Yeah Tesseract is a cool tune, I do want to come back to it and expand with more instruments. I'll check out those artists albums once done with this msg. I've been searching for the right midi setup for this type of music so everything can be on time and charted. Any suggestions on gear?

As for gear, are you asking about hardware or software?

For hardware I use 2 audio interfaces - Tascam and Behringer
For software I recommend Samplitude for handling audio stuff and I use Sonar for Midi. Sonar is now free (a company called Bandlab bought it out from Gibson and it's a pretty comprehensive package). I find Samplitude does not handle midi well but for audio there is nothing to beat it because it uses object-orientated programming which makes it extremely fast, especially if you have a high track count. And it has a couple of excellent plug-ins bundled with it. A bit pricey - it was 1000 USD when I first bought it but is now about 300 or 400 USD.

You should expand on your tracks - they are a bit short but they have potential. Good luck with your projects. At least someone is trying to do something intelligent for once. If you have any questions give me a shout at jerome@auralscapes.org
