George Michael - John and Elvis Are Dead
A mournful dirge of a song on an otherwise excellent album - "Patience".

for one reason or another I never ended up getting "patience", I should have, it is a good album, like you, not keen on "john and elvis are dead" though...
"faith", his first solo album, is still his best IMO.

I thought this thread would have gone nowhere fast, thought we'd have run out of songs pretty darn quick, but they keep right on-a-coming...

Bizarre, considering how mega-popular George Michael is. I only have the Ladies and Gentlemen compilation, but that's a really good set.

If we're talking about song titles that references other artists, Taylor Swift would be a prime example of artists who do that. Bad Blood (Katy Perry), Dear John (John Meyer)...

there aren't many instrumentals I love other than Mark Knopfler's but here is one of the rare ones I do love...
it comes off the superb "Saturday night fever" soundtrack:
