Meat Loaf "going all the way is just the start"
first track to be released off his forthcoming album
written by Jim Steinman....
I have almost all of his albums and was curious as to how this one
would sound with Jimmy standing alongside him once again....
the song sounds flat,
the vocals are uninspired and to be fair,
i'd never have guessed this was Steinman or Meat in a million years
had his website not directed me to the YT links....
a terrible piece of nothing IMO, but compared to what ive heard recently,
its brilliant...LMAO!

As soon as I saw the song title I knew it was going to be written by Jim Steinman.
There is something about Jim Steinman's songs, his lyrics in particular, that annoys me intensely, and stops me from being able to appreciate any of his or Meat Loaf's music to any degree. the best adjective I can think of for them is "smartarse". He seems to have hit on a formula combining the troubles of young lovers, or rather the troubles that young lovers are supposed to have, with a carefully mixed in dose of double meanings and innuendos. It's almost what I would expect a computer program to come up with if programmed to create lyrics that maximised the likelihood of a hit.
Did I remember to mention that I dislike jim Steinman intensely?

so if you dislike:
1...his lyrics
2...'smartarse' mix of innuendo's/double meanings and
3...basically dislike Steinman
then all I can assume is that from your point of view that...."three out of three aint bad".......LOL
I generally cant get enough of Steinman's songs....
five of my personal favourite albums came from the pen of Steinman...
Meat Loaf: "deadringer", "bat out of hell" and "bat out of hell II"
Jim Steinman: "bad for good"
Pandora's Box: "original sin"

There is one Jim Steinman song that I do really like: "Rock and Roll Dreams Come Through"; it does not seem to have the annoying qualities I ascribe to most of his songs.
I should also add that I much prefer Steinman's recording of the song to Meat Loaf's version.

I agree, Jim's version is better than Meat's cover.
