...And you've heard that they come pre-loaded with a back-door security flaw called Superfish? Here's how to determine if you have it and how to remove it:

I've heard that brand name before....
They're dirt cheap here....
Wouldn't touch 'em with a barge pole, they look cheap and nasty.
ACER laptops,
They come with a duel-core hard drive which means the manufacturer has split the hd in two because its cheaper...
You have to physically move all stored info to the second drive when the first is full and if you aren't tech-savvy you cant do it and the laptop won't work once drive #1 is full....
I had the choice of either paying an expert $99 to move all date to the second drive to free up the first one or $199 to replace the double drive with a more powerful single drive including them transferring the data to the new one...
I chose the $199 option a while ago and have had no problems since...
Tech told me its a scam by ACER to get purchasers to take their machines back to them for repairs as there's no need to split the HD in a computer.

How the mighty have fallen: Lenovo was IBM's PC division 'til bought by a Chinese company in 2004. We should just be tankful it doesn't have Chinese drywall in it...

Considered Lenovo to be a reliable company. My first laptop was Lenovo 3000 N100. I really liked it. Not so far I got a present from my dad
http://jiji.ng/, Lenovo G50-70
http://ikeja.jiji.ng/computers-and-lapto...30161.html. Never thought they would commit such a mistake and equip their products with malicious software.

The security 'flaw' is intended. A lot of large corporations buy Lenovo laptops because they are cheap but I am sure the 'flaw' is designed to collect information.

BTW I bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 about a year ago. Can't remember the exact price I paid for it but it certainly wasn't cheap. Biggest mistake I ever made. It's complete rubbish. not intuitve at all and is constantly bloody updating in the background. I found a way around that. I have turned the bloody thing off and do not intend using it again. All these new gadgets are overloaded with crap you do not need. Back to the old workstation - it does what I want it to.
