Grace redid Lesley Gore's "You Don't Own Me" with the addition of a hip hop element. I like it cause it's true to the original but at the same time, makes it a current hit too.

Roadkill Ghost Choir redid Fleetwood Mac's "Everywhere" - it's pretty much the same song, but still SOOO GOOD!

An oldie but a goodie, at least it's who of my favorites (still gives me goosebumps apparently).
2Pac's "Changes" is a redo of Bruce Hornsby's "That's The Way It Is"

What TND said. I dearly love the original because of Lesley Gore's strong statements of personhood. This ups the ante for the 21st century. I listened 3 times and got more each time. Great share and just why I put this Thread up in the first place.

Especially poignant in these times of news from Cleveland and Baltimore and whatever scandal is due to break. Don't forget though that the OG rappers either were or tried to live up to the lifestyles of real gangsters. Doesn't mean their vision was flawed or means of expression faulty; their mode of life and legacy could stand scrutiny though.
