When it comes to Latin big band jazz, nobody did it and does it better than Larry Harlow, a Jewish man in NYC. Employed the best players of his era and kept thousands of dancers on the floor. He was part of the conception of the nuyorican Latin jazz/pop movement--taking Latin rhythms and putting a more frantic Big City edge on them.
