She's the folk singer that you probably don't know you know (her single "Merry-go-Round" was the song heard in 2007 Bank of America commercials
http://youtu.be/HF1Wz4qc7fo), and after a successful Kickstarter campaign she's scheduled to release her latest album "The Twenty Dollar Leap Year" in November 2014. A shy, but engaging stage performer, she's had an extraordinarily interesting and heartbreaking life (

Everyone has an Angel: a Guardian who watches over us. We can't know what form they'll take. One day, old man. Next day, little girl. But don't let appearances fool you, they can be as fierce as any dragon. Yet they're not here to fight our battles, but to whisper from our heart. Reminding that it's us: it's everyone of us who holds power over the world we create. -Sweet Pea

Different. Very different. Quite refreshing in fact. You can tell this music comes from the heart.

...And warmly funny too. Purring cat in my lap wanting and getting my friendly hand and Ms. Duvekot on the box--do Saturday mornings get any better? Anyway, here's more:

There were comparisons to other artists by commenters in my first link. I found those comparos easy to dismiss--Ms. Duvekote is entire unto herself.

She's an interesting performer, and you're right, Jerome, her music is really from the heart. I've seen her twice at Space in Evanston, IL, and each time I've felt like I was sitting in someone's living room listening to a private performance while simultaneously being in the center of a fairly large crowd. She's unlike anyone I've ever seen before. Thank you for posting more of her music, jazzbo! Your Saturday morning sounds like heaven!! By the way, Long Way (the first link jazzbo posted) is one of my all-time favorites of hers.
