That's surprised in a good way? Here's 2 hippie freaks supporting a blind guy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2UW4ELmVD9M

I am vaguely insulted by this. I've known him and liked him since this era: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ofSVdCvlK0Y and certainly this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hjy7RAu8TJ4
NOTE: "y'all" means a person; "all y'all" means a group. Just thought you ought to know...

OK...This, in my opinion is the best cover of all time.

I find myself believing every single word and it, literally, makes me hurt for him. Seriously, my heart hurts, and NIN did not do that for me.

SteveO Wrote:I like U2! (must be my Irish ancestry ..lol). I listened to them all day yesterday! They are much better live like many other bands! The unique and distinctive guitar sound of The Edge is pleasing to these ears! I am wondering how Dave gets that special guitar effect? Would you know Jerome?

Here is a real adrenalin rush!

Steve I speak under correction here, but I think the 'endless delay' pedal effect was engineered by Eno. I am probably going to be hung, drawn and quartered for saying this but I do not think The Edge is any great shakes as a guitarist. His playing is very basic - he's basically a rhythm guitarist and I can't think of one solo that really stands out. His playing suits the band he is with, but outside of that what has he done? Same is true of the drummer and the bassist. Nothing really inventive from any of them although I must admit I like the drums on Bullet the Blue Sky. That's creative. They work as a live act for sure because they have a frontman that is full of hype. And maybe that's the secret - if you can create enough hype it does not matter how well you can actually play. Incidentally, my favourite band is Pink Floyd and I think the albums they did in the seventies are totally unique. But Nick Mason is a crap drummer. He can keep time - but that's about all.

You've received a standing ovation from me Jerome....
The Edge is no master with the fret board...he plays very simple like Noel Gallagher IMO
But both styles suit their songs...

And SteveO....
I'd rather hear U2 live than on their studio albums also( not that I'm a fan though)

Glad to see this Thread has legs--including TND's. Some great jazz artists have produced definitive covers--Miles Davis,Stan Getz, 'Trane and so many others but it's cheating to quote them--I'm meant same or similar genre covers. Any of y'all got others? Like these?: CCR https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NXJQOWsp6f4 << Long version or JT https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XEBgECxtQjQ << severely under-rated blue-eyed soul singer, here with the best in the biz.

Thanks for the response J man! I know you're right! Edge's guitar technique is expanded on the documentary with Page and White...
